Hi! I'm Abby, the "Garage Gym Lady", owner of BLACKTOP FIT and I'm just getting started!
I'm 51 years old, the sole owner, employee and creator at BTF!
I LOVE Garage Gym Life!
I have over 3 decades, 30+ years, experience in teaching & education!
16+ years personal and professional experience in CrossFit, Functional Fitness, Strength & Conditioning.
My passion and specialties are helping beginners get started in their fitness journeys, help women in their 40s, 50s, 60+ get fitter, stronger, healthier with age and anyone who wants to workout!
I KNOW what it's like to be a beginner. I KNOW what it takes to make REAL progress & get REAL Results. I even KNOW injury and what it takes to come back from one.

FAVORITE THINGS
Seeing people become fitter, stronger and more confident in themselves and their abilities.
When I see the focus shift away from CAN'T DO, weight on the scale, size of clothes, shape of body, fitness ability to things like grabbing heavier dumbbells because you know you CAN!
When you start to notice how much you're improving, when things start to click, when you realize you are capable of more and push harder in your workouts...on your own.
When you tell me you don't like something but do it anyway.
When you come up with funny names for exercises.
When I hear how life is improving and changing for you outside the gym.
FITNESS FAVS & LEAST FAVS
Favorites: lift heavy, dumbbell snatches, slamballs, CLEANS, squats, workouts that humble me, make me question if I'll finish and 100%, always, how I feel when a workout is over. Calm, focused, happy, energized...
Least Favorites: bodyweight movements, push ups, planks, running, things that require coordination.

Fitness Industry lies!
Fitness programs and trainers who promote quick fixes, gimmicks for weight loss, guarantee weight loss in "x" number of days. While what they promote may do those things in the short term...is it healthy? Is it sustainable? Have you put in the work? Have you developed better habits? Will it last? Has it become part of your lifestyle?
The scale! Ditch it! Great things start happening, physically and mentally, when we take the focus off the number on it. Use your clothes and how you feel as a guide. Get a Dexa scan. When we start moving our bodies, making small changes, creating new habits, focusing on what our bodies can do and the weight we're lifting instead of the weight and number on the scale, true change occurs.
